COVID-19 Update

Our highest priority continues to be the health and well-being of our children in need. As we navigate the evolving impact of coronavirus on our community, we are suspending all live fundraising efforts. This includes our previously scheduled Guest Bartending event planned for Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at GreenFire Restaurant Bar & Bakery. Club Blue is committed to fulfilling the grants for our chosen charities for 2020, KFACT and Children’s Safe Harbor. We ask that if you are able, you support these worthy charities directly as they continue to do their best for children in our community.

We at Club Blue know these are challenging times that are changing rapidly. We will be listening to the needs of our community and will strive to meet the promise of our mission: To raise funds to supply the basic goods and services that promote the safety, health and well-being of children in need in our community.

Club Blue Announces 2020 COVID-19 Relief Fund Recipients

ROCKFORD, IL  July 1, 2020 – Club Blue announced 8 local charities will benefit from their COVID-19 Relief Fund, recently established to benefit charities previously served by the Club Blue grant program.  All organizations who applied received funds.  Grants were offered in amounts between $2,500-$15,000 and totaled over $60,000.

The purpose of this fund is to address the emergent needs of charitable organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Grant recipients were chosen because they embody the Club Blue mission, to provide for the basic goods and services that promote the safety, health and well-being of children in need in our community. All charities have been previously selected by the independent Club Blue Grant Selection Committee, overseen by the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois.

Charities benefiting from granted funds are:  The Carrie Lynn Children’s Center, Children’s Home and Aid Society/Mother House Crisis Nursery, Children’s Safe Harbor, Habitat for Humanity, Medical Emergency Response Team (MERIT), Remedies Renewing Lives, Rock House Kids and Rosecrance, the Mildred Berry Campus.

“We felt it necessary to reach out to our past grant recipients during this unprecedented time,” said Bruce Vorel, Vice President of the Club Blue Foundation Board.  “The forecast for non-profit organizations who serve our community’s children is uncertain at best during the pandemic.  We as a Board couldn’t sit by and watch.  We felt compelled to act and tried to do so in a way that would quickly get funds where they were needed most.”

The overwhelming support of the community has allowed Club Blue to provide more than 1.5 million dollars in grants to 12 charities over the past eight years. Businesses and community members are encouraged to stay engaged with the Club Blue mission and the charities they serve by visiting www.clubbluerockford.org.

Club Blue was started in 2011 by a group of women who were concerned about the alarmingly high rate of child abuse in Rockford Illinois.  They decided to collaborate and raise funds by having a party.  In 2014, Club Blue broadened their mission and developed a grant program established to raise funds to supply the basic goods and services that promote the safety, health and well-being of children in need in the community.
